Criterion C : Creating the Solution

Criterion C: Creating the Solution

- You need to ensure all these strands/objectives are made in your final product.

nConstruct a plan, which describes the efficient use of time and resources, sufficient for peers to be able to create the solution.

nDemonstrate excellent technical skills when making the solution.

nFollow the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended plan.

nFully justify changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution.

nPresent the solution as a whole, either;

nA) in electronic form ( video)

Your Task includes the following;

- Construct a detailed and logical plan, which describes the efficient use of time and resources,
sufficient for peers to be able to follow to create the solution.
-  Create the product that demonstrates excellent technical skills usage.

In this stage, there should be clear evidence that the plan is followed,  the final product
should meets the design specifications and should be a close as possible to your chosen
design, and that the solution functions as intended and is presented appropriately.
It's expected that a dated process journal is kept with detailed screenshots justifying any
improvements in your product development progress. The screenshots will normally show
how a particular complex techniques are applied before and after.

Criterion C: Creating the solution
0
The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors below.
1 — 2
The student demonstrates minimal technical skills when making the solution, creates the solution, which functions poorly and is presented in an incomplete form.
3 — 4
The student lists the main steps in a plan that contains some details, resulting in peers having difficulty following the plan to create the solution, demonstrates satisfactory technical skills when making the solution, creates the solution, which partially functions and is adequately presented, states one change made to the chosen design or plan when making the solution.
5 — 6
The student lists the steps in a plan, which considers time and resources, resulting in peers being able to follow the plan to create the solution, demonstrates competent technical skills when making the solution, creates the solution, which functions as intended and is presented appropriately, states one change made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution.
7 — 8
The student outlines a plan, which considers the use of resources and time, sufficient for peers to be able to follow to create the solution, demonstrates excellent technical skills when making the solution, follows the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended and is presented appropriately, lists the changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution.

Process Journal should show the following:

nDate

nPlace/Venue
nClear description on each screenshot.

  2. Reflection- Criterion C

In criterion C, we were creating the solution to a problem. The problem is that Mr Fred has to pick up the litter the students drop at break and lunch time, after selling snacks to both junior and senior school. We had to create an animated video, to create a solution to this problem.

I tried to create the environment of the video exactly like the junior school.

The animation software I chose was Goanimate. I had used Goanimate before, but it has been such a long time I had forgotten how to use it! I enjoyed using Goanimate, and I learnt so many things in the process of creating the video.

Some of the challenges I faced during the process of making my video were, after each slide of the video my props and characters were jumping, some of the props were not there like crisp packets, juice boxes etc. Along with the challenges I faced, the things that I found easy were time management and writing the process journal.

Overall, I feel that I have performed well and I have done my best in making the video and filling in the process journal!

  3. An expert in anything was once a beginner. Right now we are all beginners, all leading the way towards being experts in the art of animation.

This criterion was truly an experience for me and my friends. We had ups ad downs, highs and lows, but most of all we learnt a lot. I had a good experience in making the animation. We had to create an solution to the problem Mr. Fred has during almost all times. This problem is simply students littering as they do not respect their environment. So we had to create an animation using the storyboards we made in criterion B to help stop littering by the students in our school.

This was easy at the beginning. This was the part where I was creating the characters and scene but as I kept proceeding it became challenging as the transitions and things like that had to be really smooth. However I got help from peers, my teacher and my parents these problems were no big deal.

There is still some room for improvement for the animation. This is such as giving a background to the animation, not putting to much of text and things like that.

Overall I loved this Criterion :)

  4. Reflection on Criterion C:

An expert always learns from his mistakes. Losing is only a great way of improving from your before, and creating space for more ideas. That's exactly what we, as learners are doing in the DD lessons.

First of all, I very much enjoy working in the DD lab because of many reasons. Some of these reasons include doing fun activities like creating animations and finding out information on worksheets. Not only does this give you a fun opportunity of learning, it also improves your knowledge on these things.

Secondly, during the efficient time us, students ave spent in the DD lessons, I have learnt valuable skills which will help me on further to come. These skills include creating animations and looking at different view points of the animation. I also learnt how to make a sensible product by looking for improvement and learning from your mistakes.

I faced many challenges while doing this Criterion. Although there were some brick walls during the process, I believe I worked hard and understood the task and managed to slip pass them. One challenging task for me during this Criterion, was picking the right software for it. I finally decided on using Goanimate because it had many more features that others like text to speech and so on.

I didn't dislike anything in this Criterion because everything was enjoyable and had sense in it. This Criterion was about creating an animation about helping Mr. Fred and with a solution to stop the littering around the Tuck-shop he works in by students.

I had some space for improvement and some was in adding more props to my animation. In my specifications I added a fact which was false and I will try to be more specific in my next specification table.

My solution was to try and play games with your friend of throwing trash so that throwing trash can become a fun game. This will drag students into throwing trash just for the pleasure of it. I honestly really enjoyed this Criterion and hope for better ones to come.

"Making a blunder is not bad, only making the same blunder a second time is"-Unknown.

    Thank you.
